While walking on life’s journey
Toward a far and distant land,
One day upon the road I met
A very special man;
He was so kind and gentle,
Hardworking, loving, good,
We thought we’d walk together
As long as we both could.
It made the journey lighter
Walking hand in hand,
I learned so many lessons
From this kind and gentle man.
He taught me much of love,
Faith and courage too,
Respect for self and others,
So many things he knew;
Speaking words with wisdom,
Doing a good deed,
Helping all his neighbors
In any time of need.
But then our journey ended
When we came to the place
Where he would walk no farther
And I’d not see his face;
For heaven’s angels waited
To take him home above;
I’ll miss this kind and gentle man,
I’ll not forget his love.
